This Gas Range Igniter ignites the gas for the oven burner. It's wired in series with the safety gas valve for the oven. The safety gas valve won't open unless it detects that the igniter is hot enough to light the burner gas. If your range won't turn on, there's little to no heat when baking, or the igniter glows but won't light, replacing the igniter may alleviate these issues. When installing the part, make sure not to touch the new carbide electrode, as oil from your fingers may damage the part.
